Light IA was experienced today as precipitation was recorded over the southern portion of the GACC most of the day. A storm system will bring widespread light to moderate rain west of the mountains today, along with strong, gusty winds. Expect highest precip totals on the coastal slopes. Inland temperatures throughout this time period will range between 15 and 25 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. Snow levels will start out around 8,500 feet today and lower to around 6,200 feet by Thursday morning, resulting in some light snow to the higher elevations.

King City The Monterey Ranger District is closing two roads on the Los Padres National Forest in anticipation of inclement weather.  This closure will be in place for the protection of the public and to reduce damage to these recently graded roads. The Arroyo Seco Indians Road will be closed at Memorial Park Campground and Piney Creek Road will be closed at the first gate.

 

This is a temporary closure; these roads will reopen as conditions permit.

Great Fire CA- MVU-011091 2,135 ac, 90% contained. Fire suppression repair is ongoing. Demobilization is ongoing. Anticipated transition back to MVU is expected to occur on 10-6-11.
