10/12	1600	National Fire Prevention Week This year's fire prevention week campaign runs October 9-15 and focuses on preventing the leading causes of home fires, cooking, heating and electrical equipment, as well as candles and smoking materials. October 8th commemorates the infamous "Great Chicago Fire" of 1871 that killed 250 people and destroyed over 17,000 homes. 10/12	0800	Residents not used to this heat should be extra cautious with outdoor activities as warm conditions to the region today.  Highs will reach or exceed 100 degrees in some of the Valley and Desert regions, while locations just a few miles from the Coast may reach the 90s. The beaches may even reach the upper 80s to low 90s. It is anticipated that temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this period
