Re: [californiadisasters] Re: Anniversary Reminder - Witch (Creek) Fire

Wayne,

We have them all covered. On California Disasters the anniversaries of events are set to post on the group as close to the time the event happened or started as possible. The Harris Fire anniversary has already posted this morning because that is when it happened four years ago this morning. The Witch Fire started a short time ago four years ago. The other one's you mentioned will see their anniversary notice post on the group when the date and time of day arrives which for those is not today (Rice Fire is tomorrow and Poomacha Fire is day after tomorrow). There will be many other fire anniversaries over the next several days as well.

Also should include the following:

Harris Fire started October 21, 2007 9:23 am (Highway 94 and Harris
Ranch Rd near Portrero), grew to 90,440 acres. 253 residential
structures, 2 commercial properties and 293 outbuildings were destroyed.
12 residential structures and 3 outbuildings were damaged. There were
40 firefighter injuries reported. Five civilians died and twenty-one
injured directly due to this fire. I believe Incident Command Team 10
was assigned to this one. I was originally assigned to this one, but
was "redirected" to report to the Witch Fire while enroute.

Rice Fire began on October 22, 2007 4:16 pm, burning 9,472 acres in Rice
Canyon (Clearwater Rd.) in Fallbrook. This fire ate 9,472 acres,
destroyed 206 residential structures, 2 commerical properties and 40
outbuildings. My memory is failing, but I believe Incident Command Team
7 had this one.

Puumacha Fire started October 23, 2007 3:13 pm (Hwy 76, Pauma Valley)
and burned 49,410 acres. It destroyed 138 homes, 1 commercial property
and 78 outbuildings. There were 15 firefighter injuries reported.
Flames came shooting over the tops of the ridges north of the casino and
firefighters asked the intake vents of the air conditioners to be closed
as the smoke was being sucked into the casino. Fond memories and fun
times!!!

Be safe. Get prepared. Stay ready.
