I saw the same or similar report on my local news today, but some of it didn't add up. Last fall, Socal had the least amount of brush fires in decades. We got off easy last season, although other seasons- not traditionally fire seasons- have been making up for that. And as we just saw last week with San Diego's catastrophic fires, things are all out of whack for sure.
