2001: Record rainfall occurred throughout much of the central California interior as a strong
low pressure system impacted the region.
2001: Vallejo received 1.92" of rain -- a record for the month.
1985: Heavy rain from a cold, slow-moving storm with embedded thunderstorms started on this day and ended on 11.13.
It produced 4.25" in Julian, 3.42" in La Mesa, 2.63" in SDSU, 2.44" in Vista, 2.40" in Lemon Grove, 2.39" in Alpine, 2.19" in Poway, 2.13" in Chula Vista, and 1.84" in San Diego.
Flooding occurred in Spring Valley and Mission Valley, with erosion damage in La Mesa.
On this day a waterspout came ashore in Encinitas, becoming a tornado and leaving behind a trail of damaged homes and crushed greenhouses as it crossed I-5 before dissipating.
It caused $250,000 in damage.
The storm dropped 14" of snow in Mt. Laguna, five inches in Julian and through the San Gabriel Mountains.
Light snow fell as low as Alpine (1800 feet elevation).
On this day strong storm winds gusted to nearly 80 mph along the San Diego County coast.
Lots of tree damage resulted, also power outages and roof damage in La Jolla.
One tree fell on two cars in Hillcrest.
Winds capsized a sailboat off Carlsbad, killing one.
1985: 23" of snow fell at Sierraville.
1974: Santa Ana conditions warmed up Imperial Beach to 96° F, the hottest in the nation that day, incredibly.
It was 91° F at San Diego.
1967: It was 80° F in Idyllwild, the highest temperature on record for November.
This also occurred on 11.1.1999, 11.13.1999, 11.4.1980, and 11.2.1966.
1950: It was 30° F in Santa Ana, the lowest November temperature on record (also occurred on 11.11.1950, 11.24.1952 and 11.30.1948).
1944: 2.59" of rain fell in Escondido, the greatest daily amount on record for November.
1938: Hanford dipped to 18° F for a low temperature.
1938: The morning low temperature at Carson City, NV was -5° F.
1938: It was 24° F in Escondido, 14° F at Descanso, and 10° F at both Palomar Mountain and Cameron (near Mt. Laguna).
1928: Bakersfield had a record rainfall for the date of 0.25".
This is the oldest rainfall record for Meadows Field in Bakersfield.
1926: 10" of snow fell at Tahoe City.
1906: It was 105° F at Craftonville (now Crafton Hills, near Redlands).
This remains the national maximum temperature record for November.
