Diablo Canyon had a lot of construction problems.Things got so bad that PG&E hired Bechtel Power Corp. to go in and clean things up. PG&E had learned some valuable lessons from the mess that was Helms Pumped Storage.

 

My brother was the Bechtel trouble-shooter who was shipped in to shape up the contractor. He fired most of the contractor management on the job, along with the druggies (of which there were many) on the construction crews.

 

Frankly, I remember hearing Diablo Canyon and the people connected to it weren't the most popular things in SLO County at the time--a few murders will ensure that!
