Re: MAD (WAS Re: [californiadisasters] Electromagnetic Pulse: Effects on the U.S. Power Grid

Ernest,

I take offense when a non-American calls my President an idiot and even more offense when a fellow American does so, no matter if he's an idiot or not. We can disagree with our President but all American's need to stop acting like trolls and calling their leaders names and generally dumbing down the political discourse with invective and vitriol.

America has not discontinued it's First Stike Policy, merely further elaborated upon it and rightly so.... how we treat an attack from Iran should not be exactly the same as we do from an attack by China. Nor should we necessarily treat a non-nuclear WMD attack the same as we would a nuclear one. Context is everything and measured responses are wise responses even if ultimately they are devastating in their consequences.

To cordially correct you here is the actual policy changes to which you refer:

On a side-note this is a five-year old article but the basic facts are unchanged from when it was published and yes, we are still kings of the hill for now: http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/61508/keir-a-lieber-and-daryl-g-press/the-rise-of-us-nuclear-primacy

Now with this let's move on or move over to the discussion list and leave this main list for more organic disasters like mudslides and flash floods.

Sorry to disagree Kim, but he said we will not retaliate. True he is an
idiot and he can change his mind but for him that's a stretch.
