2000
CA-NOD Rush Fire. 318,400 acres. 69% contained. Creeping and smoldering within the interior was observed today. Containment efforts continue to be difficult due to critically dry fuels, winds, low RH's and travel distances. A red flag warning was issued for the fire area today and winds in excess of 30 MPH were observed though no perimeter growth was observed. Difficult terrain along the southern portion of the northeastern flank continues to hinder containment. An emergency closure of public lands being affected by the fire area in eastern Lassen County, California and Western Washoe County, Nevada remains in effect.

2000
CA-TGU Ponderosa Fire. 27,676 acres. 80% contained. The interior islands have consumed a majority of the available fuels. Heat signatures are still present in the drainages that are in alingment with the winds (Red Flag Warning-winds). No significant (extreme) or moderate fire behavior was observed this operational period. The protection of life and property remains the foremost priority and concern. Given the Red Flag Warning, each Division will be patrolling for flare ups and new spot fires outside the containment lines. In addition, mop-up continues to reinforce 300 feet inside the containment lines. Identification and mitigation of hazard and fire weakened trees near structures and roads is continuing. Fire line suppression repair is actively working to repair damaged caused by suppression actions.

2000
CA-KNF Fort Complex. 11,403 acres. 24% contained. Topography is making access difficult with steep terrain and snags from the 1987 burn. There are smoke impacts to the Applegate Lake recreation area and the Klamath River community with concern for public health. Late successional reserve (LSR)and T&E species in the Seiad/Baker Botanical area are threatened as well as a critical archeological site. Social concerns also include maintaining tribal relations. 2000
CA-SHF Bagley Fire. 22,103 acres. 20% contained. Active fire behavior with runs in heavy timber and brush fuels with moderate rates of spread, torching, spotting and roll-out. Long travel times and poor access require spike camps. Steep terrain, heavy fuel loadings, low RH and erratic winds are hampering containment efforts. SPI timber lands in and around the fire area are a priority as are power lines integral to the Northern California electric grid.

2000
CA-PNF Chips Fire. 68,582 acres. 65% contained. Fire lines were tested with 35 mph gusts, the few spots outside the line were contained. Rush Crk rd.from Hwy 70 is open to residents only. The Chester Memorial Hall is open as an evacuation center.
