Thomas, I like your thinking... I could also add a scanner code page at a later date. And Rick, I'm just using all the cams in forested areas and known-to-burn areas. lol-no precognition involved. What I hope is to have enough areas that when a fire breaks, one can simply check the nearest located cam. And, if I don't have a cam for that area, I'll find one and add it. I'm relentless in my search for particular cams. Sigh... just wish I could find one near Clearlake or The Geysers. I've spent hours looking, but nada.

PS And of course, I would add an invitation to join the convo at CA Disasters. :)

Subject: RE: [californiadisasters] Fire Season...A Note From The List-Owner
If you know where to put the camera, it means you know there the fire will be ... hmmm... ;-) While there are commonly burned areas each year, it does make one wonder.
Perhaps if you can find someone working as a fire lookout (a few still exist, many are volunteers) they can set up a web cam. I have no such contacts anymore (the few I do have, rarely burn and aren't interesting.

I'm currently working on a live cam site for volcanoes and also, for CA fires. Once I finish and make the site public, I would appreciate any other cam suggestions to add.
