1. Everybody and their apparatus out of the station.
2. Operations plan (decentralized dispatch) goes into effect to allow for
heavy activity levels and diminished communications capability.
3. Companies each patrol a pre-assigned area to assure that all is well.
4. Roll call so battalions can report their situation.
Of course, as with all such plans, the specifics vary by jurisdiction.
LACoFD (Los Angeles County Fire Department--covers all of unincorporated
county and many cities who contract for services) goes on earthquake mode
(earthquake procedures) whenever there is a quake felt anywhere in the
county, which is a big enough area that in many cases, as with this one,
most stations will know about the earthquake only by the alarm to earthquake
mode.
