Power outages persist in Nevada, Placer, El Dorado counties after storm
By Cathy Locke and Bill LindelofNevada County residents are used to the occasional power outage during a winter storm.
"We all joke about it. We say that's why we live in the foothills, so we get to use our wood stoves and our camp stoves," said Buzz Crouch, owner of New Moon Cafe in Nevada City.
But for residents and business owners, especially those who were still waiting for the lights to come back on Tuesday, extended power outages have become a serious matter.
Utility crews continued to press hard late Tuesday to restore power to Nevada County, where more than 900 customers remained without power several days after the last storm.
In addition, approximately 200 customers were still without power in Placer and El Dorado counties late Tuesday afternoon, said Denny Boyles, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. spokesman.
