"Sugar-coating" (aka lies) *may* have a short-term gain, but it's political
suicide. The truth will out--almost always, and either right away or
someday. If you don't believe that, ask the citizens of Bell, CA (where all
but one city council member are under criminal indictment).

But even in discussing this, let's make sure that in protesting the
principle of "sugar-coating" we don't accuse anybody of it without evidence
or suggest/hint that anybody is doing it.
