02/09/2012 | 0715 | The latest product from the National Drought Mitigation Center shows that the short-term drought has deepened throughout the state. The Center now classifies 59% of California being having "moderate" drought conditions as of February 7th, up from 57.3% from a week ago. This would not take into account the February 5-7 storm that brought rain to many areas of the state; however, the Far Eastside PSA only received minimal amounts of precipitation from that storm. The Sacramento NWS forecasts temperatures to be as much as 10 degrees above normal today in interior Northern California, with the next possibility of a strong low moving in late Sunday. |
