[californiadisasters] Heads Up - Lightning Event!

The ongoing visit to California by the Summer Monsoon seems to be living up to the expectations and many fires are breaking out across parts of the state. The Hotlist has been uncharacteristically spotty in covering some segments of what is going on while the Yahoo Groups have been dead silent. My own scanner has been hopping with activity from out on the lightning-caused Caliente Incident south of the Carrizo Plain and north of the Cuyama Valley. Many other fires have started in the mountains of Central California from SLO to Kern and headed up the Sierra Nevada Range. There was thunder here in Paso earlier but now only distant booms from training exercises at nearby Fort Hunter Liggett. A line of cells is headed up the coastal range between I-5 and US101 and I anticipate fires in that area as well. Please keep us posted on any significant fire activity in your area. Also, take due precautions as it pertains to lightning hazards in your area.
