Fires within the complex include: Goff Fire - 20 acres, 0% contained; Hello Fire - 60 acres, 0% contained; Lick Fire - 30 acres, 0% contained; Fruit Fire - 5 acres, 0% contained. Extreme topography is making access difficult; fires are burning in the 1987 Fort Cooper Fire. The Goff Fire will continue to be monitored until SoCal Team 1 (Walker) takes over; the OR-RSF fires will continue to go direct. |
08/08/2012 | 2000 | CA-SHF Parks Fire. 17 acres, 85% contained. The fire experienced several spot fires close to the control lines. Large down woody debris continuing to consume within control line and is the primary receptor for ignition source outside control line. |

08/08/2012 | 2000 | CA-LNP Reading Fire. 3,600 acres, 5% contained. Winds and low RH increased fire behavior with numerous single and group tree torching, burning through dense forest fuels. Long range spotting up to 1 mile. A spot fire on the north side of Badger Mountain got established today and was aggressively attacked with air tankers. Retardant drops were used on USFS lands. The main park highway continues to be closed for six miles from Chaos Crags to Summit Lake. Lost Creek and Crags campgrounds remain closed. Portions of the Pacific Crest, Paradise Meadows, and Terrace Lakes trails remain closed. |

Resources continue indirect fire line construction on the ridge above the China Ravine ( Div Z) around the approximately 100 acre slop-over fire established west of Mosquito creek. Good progress continues, mopping up the spot fires in the northern portion of Div Y where the fire is now holding. Resources continue with direct and indirect line construction around the fire perimeter. An approximate 7 mile section of Hwy 70 from Rock creek to the community of Beldon has a one lane closure/control. Cal Trans continues to clear debris from roll-out onto the highway. |
08/08/2012 | 1830 | CA-NOD Lost Fire. 45,288 acres, 40% contained. The fire has entered the High Rock Canyon Wilderness and Nations Conservation Area (NCA). Mechanized equipment is not allowed within the area, and retardant use may be limited. The shortage of hand crews has limited work in the NCA. The VLAT was effective with dozer line construction to steer fire spread away from the LADWP power lines, although the threat to the lines still exist. |

08/08/2012 | 1200 | In memoriam - On August 8, 1959 fire from a fatal automobile accident spread into the wildland above Lake Elsinore, CA. During a burnout operation, a sudden transition from downslope to upslope winds pushed the fire uphill over the Ortega Highway, where 7 personnel suffered critical burns. 5 of those firefighters died, including the District Ranger, an Engine Foreman, and three El Cariso Hotshot crewmembers. For forecasted sustained winds today, the anticipated fire behavior is expected to be ROS 30-35 chains/hour with a flame length of 12-14 feet. Gusty winds will increase ROS up to 80 chains per hour. Probability of ignition will reach 90-100 during the afternoon. |

Wind driven fire behavior with numerous single and group tree torching and moderate rates of spread burning through dense forest fuels. Short range spotting up to 1/4 mile. The fire crossed the northern Park boundary into Lassen National Forest overnight. The main park highway continues to be closed from Chaos Crags to Summit Lake. Portions of the Pacific Crest, Paradise Meadows and Terrace Lakes trails remain closed. |

These resources are critical to achieving management strategies. A new Branch and several new Divisions were added. The Yellow Creek Base Camp has been relocated to the Almanor camp ground. Public meetings will be held tonight in the communities of Quincy and Canyon Dam. Completed hand line /roads equals 19 miles Completed dozer line equals 17 miles Planned fire line equals 12 miles. Plumas NF total acres 12,450 Lassen NF total acres 22,320 SRA total acres 621 Total Acres : 35,391 The increase in acres to 18,001 was taken from the IR flight last night. An up to date of NF and SRA total acres will be calculated this operational period. |
