[californiadisasters] Re: We Are Still at Risk of the Plague

I think we always need to keep caution on that one. Plague has some effective treatments these days which was NOT the case in the Middle Ages when it was deadly enough to kill off a third of Europe. The things I think of when I think of a plague outbreak would be some terrorist or terrorist trying to use it as a weapon, or perhaps an accidental realize from a medical lab. Diseases can change form to fight back against OUR weapons ... the methods medical science has come up with to protect us. Antibiotic resistant strains of staph is a very good example. We definitely need to keep our guard up even though the risk is much lower than it was long ago. Medical science has done a great deal to keep us protected from diseases and alive longer ... but we are not immortal.
