08/26/2013 | 0800 | CA-TNF American Fire: 24,408 acres, 81% contained. Expected containment: 08/29/2013. Opliger, CA IMT1. The majority of the fire is landscaped with interior isolated sources of heat as larger fuels are slowly consumed. The most active portion of the fire is along the 43 road where crews have fired from the improved road. Fire is backing down the slope with a low intensity and slow rate of spread. Fire growth potential decreases with successful firing operations, though risks still remain with potential gusty winds forecasted through operational period across fire perimeter. 2 Additional iRAWS placed to enhance weather reporting accuracy. CA-SRF Corral Complex: 11,707 acres, 5% contained. Expected containment 10/1/2013. Joseph, CA IMT1. Creeping and backing fire was observed with some open flame in the heavier ground fuels. There was minimal fire spread overnight. Today's weather is expected to be warmer and dryer. The fire is expected to be more active. Movement is predicted to be 1/8 - 1/4 mile. The fire is expected to exhibit backing, creeping, and isolated open flame in the heavier ground fuels. There is the potential for short duration upslope runs when the conditions come into alignment. The areas with the highest potential for spread are the Tish Tang area on the northwest flank, the Horse Linto area on the south flank, and Quinby Creek area on the southeast flank. CA-TGU Deer:10,325 acres, 45% contained. Expected containment 8/30/2013. Cone, CAL FIRE Team 2. Fire behavior pushed the fire into the north fork of the Mill Creek Drainage and east into the Ishi Wilderness. The fire continues to burn in the Big Dry Creek drainage with short range spotting to the north. Continue direct hand line construction along the east side of the fire through the Ishi Wilderness and north to the north fork of Mill Creek to prevent further spread to the north and east. Contingency lines are currently being constructed north of the fire along the Peligreen Trail. CA-SRF Butler Fire: 21,105 acres, 39% contained. Expected containment: 09/15/2013. Quesinberry, NIMO. A marine layer kept overnight fire behavior to a minimum with creeping and smoldering within interior pockets. A strategic operations plan has been developed that identifies management action points and modeled fire behavior. Strategic operations plan report points to a long term fire event as the fire burns within indirect containment lines. CA-KNF Salmon River Complex: 14,771 acres, 95% contained.
