A paleoclimatologist would disagree with this generalization, although it does seem to apply to the geologist in question. Although his statements about the CO2 budget are off, he does raise an interesting question, about why there are not at least inflections in CO2 levels around singular volcanic events, instead of the monotonic increase that has been recorded. Such events do show up in average temperatures.
