VVHS Parents and Community members,
Many of you are aware of the extra responsibilities and challenges our teachers and staff are carrying this school year with the implementation of the new Public Education Department (PED) requirements. Our Parent Advisory group at VVHS has been discussing various options and ideas of possible ways to counter some of their added stress, to boost morale, and to give back to our teachers and staff for their tireless commitment to our kids.
We are extending an invitation to all of our VVHS parents to help communicate this need to community businesses. Some of the ways we can give back to our teachers include donating gift cards, special offers (Buy 1/Get 1, % off specials), or services (chair massage, manicures/pedicures, haircuts, spa services, etc) to be given away in raffles. VVHS has approximately 200 staff including ancillary and itinerant staff. A business can also consider a food, monetary, or venue donation to help make staff events and/or meetings more personal and affordable, thus creating a more positive and relaxed atmosphere.
And, finally, a vital contribution that each family can make is to set aside a few minutes of your day to e-mail or send a note of thanks and encouragement to your child's teachers, specifically thanking them for something they do/have done that has positively impacted your child. You can also copy any e-mails to our principal, Valerie Atencio at atencio_v@aps.edu to be used for teacher evaluations. All encouraging comments will remind them of the vital role they play in helping us to send out into the world educated, responsible young adults of strong character. We appreciate your help in honoring and reminding our teachers how much we appreciate their time and energy in the midst of their challenging circumstances.
Respectfully,
VVHS Parent Advisory Members
