Heavy snow and ice all over the US east coast is keeping many at home, but technology allows us to conduct the webinar as planned. (unless a widespread power outage occurs) Please join us today and learn about how to find and offer training courses in disaster and public health preparedness.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:  The Disaster Information Specialist monthly meeting is open to everyone – please spread the word and invite others in your organizations, send to your email lists, and post to your social media accounts.

 

TOPIC:    Training Classes for Public Health Preparedness and Response

 

SPEAKERS: 

The public health workforce, other disaster-related professionals, volunteers and the many others who support their work need continuous training to maintain and advance their skill sets.  This webinar and conference call will feature representatives from TRAIN (https://www.train.org), the Public Health Foundation’s free learning resource for searching, registering for and tracking on-site or distance learning courses.  Dr. Lois Banks, TRAIN Director, and Erin Bougie, TRAIN Program Assistant, will demonstrate how TRAIN operates as a tool for both learners and course providers.  Representatives from the National Library of Medicine Disaster Information Management Research Center will also share information about accessing training courses through the Resource Guide for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (http://disasterlit.nlm.nih.gov).
