We are pleased to announce that the following AP Art student earned national recognition in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Nicole Hensley has been identified by panels of creative professionals as one of the most talented young artists in the nation. This year, almost 255,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top 1% were recognized at the national level. These students have been invited to attend a national ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on Friday, June 6th. The National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall will also be webcast live at 6:00 ET. Congratulations again to Nicole Hensley.
Any student interested in being a class officer next year or in senate please stop by the activities office at lunch to pick up an application. All applications are due at lunch by Wednesday April 2nd.
Tomorrow is the big day for our night on the field. Come out and enjoy an evening with new and old friends while watching The Sandlot. Concessions will be available and tickets can be purchased for $3.00 at the gate. We look forward to seeing you on the baseball field at 7:30.
Prom tickets are on sale today thru Tuesday April 1st for $20.00. The price increases to $25 on April 2. Juniors and Seniors may purchase tickets in the Activities Office during lunch. You must have your ID to purchase a ticket. It is your responsibility to read the rules on the back of your ticket. They are also up online and in your agenda.
There will be no Best Buddies this Friday.
Culinary Club will meet today at lunch.
Hey Hawks, if you have not signed up for the Run for the Zoo this year, see Mrs. Kowalski or Mrs. Nord by the end of this week to sign up! All race registrations must be received by Friday, March 28th in order to receive the school discount--we'll see you there!

Baseball - hosts Albuquerque High on Saturday.
The softball team beat Rio Grande 13 to 2 behind the pitching of Ashlyn Moya. Lauren Wilmert hit a Home run and Chelsee Nunez hit a GRAND SLAM. The team's next game is Thursday against West Mesa, here at home at 4 pm

This Friday at 2:14 pm and this Saturday at 3:15 pm at the UNM PIT, the Varsity cheerleaders will be competing for the 5A New Mexico state championship--we receive points for crowd involvement, so we would LOVE your support! Hope to see Volcano Vista Hawks invading the PIT this weekend! The State Spirit Competition is Friday and Saturday. Good Luck to our dancers and cheerleaders.
