Immediate evacuations for several San Marcos communities

At 3:55 pm, the City of San Marcos has just issued an immediate evacuation for the following neighborhoods south of highway 78 including Discovery Hills, Discovery Meadow, north San Elijo Hills, and Coronado Hills. Advisory evacuations are issued for the Lake San Marcos community.

Twin Oaks Valley Road has been closed and motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

The safety and security of the community is our top priority and all available resources are being deployed. A primary evacuation center has been established at Mission Hills High School, 1 Mission Court and a secondary evacuation center at San Marcos Middle School, 650 West Mission Road.
