[Geology2] Re: The Samarco dam failure – an intriguing video
Tailings dams, in general, have a higher failure ratio. As I understand it the event was result of the upper dam, the Fundão dam, breaching first. This then sent a tailings laden slurry downstream and into the reservoir of the Santarém dam, which then failed as well. Although it could be, I doubt that is dust in the air. Unfortunately, the poor quality of the video makes it difficult to determine.
