Yep, the infamous "March Miracle" of 1991 actually which was followed by two more consecutive winters of interesting storms and such for three consecutive years of good rainfall. The Northern Oscillation was in its positive phase which helped. Since the big ENSO of 1997-1998 it has been in negative phase and thus more droughts. It appears to be switching back according to some murmurs I have picked up. You are spot on about when we get rain it comes all at once. Aside from the steady but generous rains of 2005 we seem to get feast or famine. It is important to note that California is a land of flood and drought unlike any other part of the United States.

True.   And there was that miracle March back in 1993.   It's just too bad everytime we get a lot of rain, it comes all at once.
