SOAR CARDS Attention students and staff, our fall semester drawing will be this Friday, January 6.  So make sure you get all your soar cards turned in.  Winners of the soar drawing will receive a fire tablet and the grand prize winner will win a Microsoft 2 in 1 tablet.  Winners will be notified and receive prizes at the winter assembly on January 20.  The next weekly drawing will be on Tuesday, January 17. 

 

CHOIR: Good Luck to our choir students as they participate in the All State Conference this week at UNM.

 

LITERARY MAGAZINE: The Lit mag is taking submissions for the 2017 edition.  Submission forms are available from Mrs. Rizzardi or outside G201.Submissions will be accepted through January 13.

 

DANCE: the first annual Holly Hawkins dance will be Saturday February 4.

 

BOWLING The bowling team still could use a couple of more bowlers to fill out a team for the last 4 tournaments of the year.  Must be at Fridays practice so name can be added to grade check report.  There is a spot for you on the team regardless of skill level.

 

NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY: There will be an intro meeting for NEHS on Friday during lunch in Mr. Finn's room. All students interested in joining are advised to come.

 

LIBRARY: As you know, it's the beginning of a brand new year. Time for those New Year's Resolutions to be made. Why not make a resolution to read award winning books? Come down to the Library to get your new year off to a great start!

 

COUNSELING:

  • SENIORS: A representative from CNM will doing on site admissions Monday January 9 from at lunch. If you cannot make it during lunch please see Mr. Garcia in E224 to make an appointment if you want help with the CNM application.

  • SENIORS:  The FAFSA priority date for UNM is January 6th  . Make sure you have your completed UNM application and have filed your FAFSA by January 6th to qualify for as much financial aid as possible.

  • If you are in need of credit recovery ECademy Spring Registration is open. The last day to register for ECademy is January 18th.  Spring ECademy classes have already started . The registration fee is $25 see your academy counselor to pay the registration fee and to enroll.

 

ATHLETICS:

  • APS has raised the price of tickets to $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students

  • BASEBALL workouts will begin today after school. You must have a physical to attend. Bring your tennis shoes, glove, and a hat.

  • BOYS TRACK Calling all male track & field athletes!  Time to shake off that winter break and get back in shape.  Pre-season workouts on Thursday and Friday of this week at 3 p.m., and then back to Monday next week for 3 days a week--hope to see all you talented, agile, fast, strong athletes out there!

  • BOYS TENNIS preseason workouts begin today, the workouts are held after school every day at the VVHS tennis courts from 2:30- 4:00pm.   All skill levels are welcome.  For more information see Mr. Roybal in H131

  • GIRLS TENNIS All girls interested in playing tennis in the Spring can attend preseason hitting sessions to get ready for the upcoming season. These practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Sierra Vista Courts. New players are welcome. The dates are: January 5, Jan. 10, Jan. 12, Jan. 17, and Jan. 19.  Please see Coach Kappus or Coach Roybal for more information.

  • METRO BASKETBALL: Congratulations to our basketball teams!  The boys defeated Atrisco 63-58 and will play Cleveland at Atrisco tonight at 7:15.  Girls will play The Eagles at Eldorado tonight at 7:15
