I appreciate this op-ed piece, but I do have one nit to pick.

Yes, uranium can be found in granites.  Some granites have concentrations high enough to make it a bad idea to use it for granite countertops.  Before installing true granite, you should check with the dealer to be sure it has been tested for safety.

But, the concentration of uranium is most granites is so low that you are not at risk from exposure.  You get far more radiation from other sources in your everyday life.
