[californiadisasters] Admin Read: Back To Disasters (or Silence)

Achtung Volk!

We have now fully discussed the Fair Use issue and nothing more can be added to this without beating a dead horse and thus I declare this thread terminated.

I appreciate the courteous tone of the varying viewpoints and from it we all know a bit more that we need to know if we are to be good "netizens" of Yahoo Groups.

We are already pretty kosher here in regards to copyright issues but to clean things up completely we will no longer welcome complete articles from private sources.

Government articles from NOAA and the USGS and such are a different matter.... as taxpayers we've already payed for that stuff through our labors. Even then proper attribution needs to be made.

As for partially-reproduced privately copyrighted materials here we make no rule on the precise percentage of the article that may appear here above a link to the entirety of it but use good judgment and certainly include enough of it so we get the idea without having to click on the link as someday when somebody comes back to the group archive for some sort of research or other activity and if the link is by then now dead then they won't know what your link went to and that contribution will be lost.

So, without further ado let's get back to disasters in California!
