[californiadisasters] EMP Threat (was: New Member Introduction)

Zephyr,

Welcome to the group!

We have always encouraged such cross-pollination as you describe or as I describe it, CaliforniaDisasters amongst being other things is a nexus between various groups that while they might not have any connection or relevance to each other they do relate to the topic of disasters in California.

While somewhat rare on a human time-scale large magnitude EMP events are incredibly potent and in the context of a modern global electronic civilization an event on the scale of the 1859 Carrington Event could be surprisingly disastrous with global implications.

For those not familiar with this subject and in particular the Carrington Event please check the following links:

Thanks for having me in your group.  I am a long-time military veteran, ham/amateur radio operator, and a paramedic.  I hope to learn a lot from the group and to hopefully contribute as well.

If you are interested in EMP and how to prepare for the next natural or man-made EMP event, please join this new group.  I hope to see a lot of healthy cross-pollination between the groups.   Thanks.
