09/03/2013 | 0630 | CA-SRF Corral Complex: 11,924 acres, 49% contained. Expected containment 09/15/2013. Pincha-Tulley CA IIMT-3/Mendes, Unified Command. The fire was smoldering and creeping with rolling material still a concern. The fire was most active in the southern portion. Open flame observed from heavy dead logs within the interior. Due to inaccessible steep terrain, fixed wing aircraft will be used to drop clean water on the inaccessible fire line in the wilderness area. This affords an extra margin of safety and reduces risk to firefighters and helicopters. Additional contingency plans are still in place however the opportunity for direct line construction will be taken in appropriate areas. CA-KNF Forks Complex: 35,892 acres, 45% contained. Expected containment 09/15/2013. NORCAL 2, IMT2 Johnson.Smoldering and creeping in isolated pockets of fuel accumulations. Interior fire activity consists of low intensity surface fires that are burning through available fuels well inside containment areas. In Branch I, resources will continue to secure, patrol and monitor fire behavior. Mop up to an optimal 300 feet will continue. Along the Salmon River corridor resources will patrol and mop up in areas they can safely access. Crews will continue to locate and contain hotspots in Nordheimer Creek. Suppression repair operations will be ongoing. |
