Upward Bound Award: Faculty and Staff - Volcano Vista will be bringing around certificates for students that received a 3.5 GPA or higher next week. However, we also want to recognize students that may not have met this criteria but have impressed you with their achievements and hard work from the 1st to the 2nd grading period. Thanksgiving meal will be on Thursday, Nov. 14. We will serve the staff by the G hall in front of the auditorium. The price for staff will be $3.25.
The first Gay Straight Alliance meeting will be today at lunch in Room A120. All who are interested are welcome to attend. The mission of the GSA is to help create a safe environment for all students and promote tolerance of diversity in the school. Refreshments will be provided.
Attention MESA members...you can work on your competition delivery systems/vehicles Thursday after school...we will be testing this week and next until Friday, Nov 22, which is our pre-competition day at the Natural History Museum...see us at the lunch meeting on Wednesday for your permission slips.

Check out the VVHS Art Show at the Corrales Frame N Art Gallery at Coors and Alameda. The show features over 50 VVHS artist in the categories of drawing, painting, mixed media, 3D ceramics, traditional photo and digital photo. The show is currently open with the awards ceremony Friday night from 6 to 7. Again, the gallery is at Coors and Alameda by Little Anitas. Come by a support our artists.

COUNSELING:
ECademy registration for the Winter term in currently open. The last day to register for this term is Wednesday November 13th. If you need to recover a credit, make an appointment with your academy Counselor to sign up for the Winter Term of ECademy which begins November 18th. Bring $25 registration fee cash or money order only.
ATHLETICS:
- Congratulations to the girls Cross Country team who took 3rd place in the Cross Country State Championship this weekend! Special congratulations
to our girls who were All State at this state meet: Rebecca Castillo who finished the state championship 3 mile race 6th with a time of 19:28, Sierra Maple was 9th with a time of 19:41, and Sierra Quinones was 10th with a time of 19:44. Great job girls! - All cross country runners need to stop by Coach Gilmore's room, F212, at lunch to pick up an important flyer about Thursday's banquet. All cross country runners need to return their uniform to Coach Gilmore washed and in a bag with their name on it
ASAP. - Football plays in the 1st Round of the State Tournament at Clovis on Friday.
- Volleyball plays at the state tournament this week – Pool Play on Thursday versus Gadsden and La Cueva at Santa Ana Star Center.
Athletic Event Workers: Faculty and Staff - want to earn some extra money and enjoy all of our great winter athletic events? We are in need of ticket sellers, ticket takers and scoreboard operators for the upcoming basketball and wrestling season. You make $16 a game (3 games a night) and get to enjoy the athletic programs. If you are interested contact Mr. Thiebaut. No experience necessary for any of the jobs.
