AT 830 PM PST WIDESPREAD SHOWERS CONTINUED OVER THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND THE INLAND EMPIRE...BUT OF LOWER INTENSITY THAN EARLIER TODAY. RAINFALL RATES WERE VARIABLE...WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS OVER ONE-TENTH INCH PER HOUR. DUE TO HEAVY RAINS EARLIER TODAY USUALLY DRY CREEKS WERE FLOWING INTO THE HIGH DESERT SUCH AS THE MOJAVE RIVER. SHEEP CREEK BREACHED A LEVEE LATE THIS AFTERNOON...BUT WAS UNDER CONTROL AGAIN EARLY THIS EVENING. MILL CREEK WAS FLOWING HEAVILY...AND THE SAN JACINTO RIVER NEAR HEMET HAD BEEN RISING. THREE TO SIX INCHES OF RAINFALL OCCURRED TODAY...AND WHILE RAINFALL RATES HAD LOWERED EARLY THIS EVENING...THEY SHOULD INCREASE AGAIN LATE THIS EVENING. AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO THREE INCHES ARE POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT...MAINLY ON THE SOUTHWEST FACING MOUNTAIN SLOPES. CREEKS COULD EXCEED THEIR BANKS OR BREACH LEVEES. A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED. STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW AND FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED. HOWEVER...ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS IMMEDIATELY. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS...STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING. DEBRIS FLOWS...INCLUDING MUD AND ROCK SLIDES...ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM. MUD SLIDES AND ROCK SLIDES CAN POTENTIALLY TRAP AND KILL PEOPLE CAUGHT IN THEIR PATH.
