[californiadisasters] Kit's "Boles Fire" Update For September 15, 2014



"A new devastating start in Northern California today (9-15).  The"Boles Fire" broke at 13:30 local on Boles Street behind an apartment complex in Weed,CA. Fire quickly began burning structures as well as tinder dry brush and was pushed by 40 mph winds.                                                                                        The fire forced the evacuation of most if not all of the town of Weed.  Power was shut off in the fire area effecting 7,700 residents.  Fire burned towards the Northeast spotting across highway 97  and forced the closure of Interstate 5 for a time today.  100 homes have been reported destroyed as well as a Church, Weed elementary school and an apartment complex.  Lake Shastina was also under threat. Evacuations include Hoy Rd, Lake Shastina, Carrick, Angel Valley and Weed.  Fire was last reported at 450 acres and containment of 20%.           Tankers reported on the fire:   #01,#10,#43,#60,#95,#100,#911,#912. Most of the Tankers were diverted from working other fires. Reload was Redding,Ca. DC-10's reloaded Medford,Or."
