[californiadisasters] Kit's "Happy Camp Complex" Update For September 2, 2014

"The "Highway 96 stand". Fire crews over the last 24 hours have been concentrating there efforts on holding the fire South of highway 96, if the fire jumps the highway there is nothing but thick forest of the Siskiyou Mountain Range to burn.                                                                                                         When the inversion does lift air Tankers have been hitting the fire hard, a 20 acre spot fire that jumped the Klamath River near Hicks Gulch was one area that was treated with retardant.  The fire is expected to have greater activity on Wednesday as a weak cold front will pass near the area producing winds with gusts up to 30 mph and low humidity, the forecast winds have forced officials too evacuate Scott River Rd and Seiad Creek Rd as well as Humburg and Scott Bar, the fear is the winds will push the fire into Humburg and Scott Bar on Wednesday.  The winds will make the fire plume dominated as well as creating running and spotting problems.                                                                             The West flank of the fire is also bracing for the winds as well as the South flank which is burning near the Pacific Coast Trail where a fire line has been cut in hopes of holding the fire there. Highway 96 remains closed in the fire area.         Tankers have been working  out of at least three bases on this fire.  Medford,OR was the hub of activity, Redding has seen Tanker activity for this fire as well as others in the area, Chico has also gotten in on the fire. With all of the bases and activity it is very hard seeing who is flying out of what base. So i have just listed Tankers that have been  reported working the fires.  #01,#06,#07,#10,#40,#*43,#44,

#60,#94,#95,#96,#101,#910,#911:  Notes: * Tanker #43 is down for an engine change.  Tankers #910 and #911 are reloading out of Medford,OR but return to Castle,Ca for overnight (RON).           Fire has destroyed 66,335 acres 15% contained."
