"Fast moving fire puts a scare into June Lake area.                                                A fast moving fire aided by up canyon winds broke out Tuesday ( 9-16 ) evening below the ski area at June Lake, fire quickly began spotting up to 1/4 mile ahead of the main fire forcing the closure of highway 158 on the East side of June Lake.  Fire officials were very concerned as June Lake is surrounded by heavy Conifer within the town and  around the town which could spell disaster. Fire was last reported at 35 acres.  Tankers #82,#83 were dispatched out of Columbia,CA for this fire and reloaded Columbia.  Bishop Tanker Base is scheduled too be opened on Wednesday if needed.  BAE-146 Tanker #01 may have been dispatched too this fire but did not arrive ibefore nightfall she may have returned to Lancaster or Redding (not confirmed)."
