The National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program (NTHMP) and a number of NTHMP states and territories recognize the last week in March as Tsunami Preparedness Week, but there are some exceptions. Hawaii recognizes Tsunami Awareness Month in April, Oregon and Washington include tsunamis in their October Great ShakeOut campaigns, and American Samoa recognizes Tsunami Preparedness Week the last week in September as part of National Preparedness Month. For more information about what may be happening in your state or territory, see the links below, or contact your state emergency management office.
