The evening session is targeted toward not only students, but also faculty, staff and the community. The content will contain more general subject information. It will be tied with the Ebola documentary and will include the history, origin, transmission research and outbreak response of the disease.

Note to Global Health Certificate of Distinction Students: You can attend either the 12:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. session. However, if your schedule allows you to attend both sessions, Dr. Beyda has approved two credits toward fulfillment of your Global Health seminar attendance requirement.

Featured Speaker: Frank Kraljic

Session: The Ebola Response

Over two years after the principal case, the West African Ebola outbreak is nearing a close, but many questions about the disease remain unanswered. Supplemented with raw edits from his forthcoming feature documentary, Frank Kraljic will share unheard stories and unique perspectives from inside the outbreak, as well as explore the origins and transmission of the virus and its part in the bigger picture of emerging diseases.

Frank Kraljic

Frank Kraljic

Frank Kraljic is an Emmy-award winning director/cinematographer with over fifteen years behind the camera on commercials, short and long format documentaries and television programing. Over the last several years, Frank's work has taken him through South America, Europe, Africa and Asia on projects including a ski-movie/culture trek through Afghanistan and into the West African Ebola outbreak. On television, he executive produced and directed the docu-reality series 3-Gun Nation on the NBC Sports Channel and wrapped three seasons on The STEM Journals, an Arizona-based kids STEM career show. 

Attendees will hear personal stories from Dr. Kraljic's experiences around the globe and his perspectives on how Ebola has impacted global health.

Agenda:

  • 5:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Reception with light hors d'oeuvres.
  • 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.: Lecture.
