the breaking force available in the car. I doubt a car could stop a big-rig,
but under the right circumstances the added braking might be just enough to
make the difference.

He'd be more successful siren-ing cars out of the way.
Still, the question remains: What was the officer doing, vs. what the
reports were. (Hint: I trust a CHiPie to do the effective thing MUCH more
than I trust a reporter to report the facts.)

A few reports have said the CHP driver got in front of the out of control
truck to try and slow it. If that really happened, isn't there like no
chance a car could help slow a speeding semi with all it's momentum? I
am surprised they made a move like that. Maybe on a bad CHiPs episode,
but....
