Countdown to ShakeOut for Businesses tipsheet
Countdown to ShakeOut!

The Earthquake Country Alliance Business Committee has created Countdown to ShakeOut: for Businesses, a great new single-page document for planning your drill, involving your employees, and making the most of available ShakeOut resources. It can easily be adapted for any type of organization.

National Preparedness Month & ShakeOut Webinar

We encourage you to become a National Preparedness Month Coalition Member and join thousands of others working to prepare communities across the country. Also, FEMA is presenting a free ShakeOut webinar on Tuesday, September 27th: Earthquakes Can Happen Anywhere.  Are you Ready?  Presenters will share actions to take during an earthquake, how to participate in the ShakeOut, success stories, and much more.

Is your drill a potential ShakeOut Media Venue?

Will your drill on October 20th include interesting visuals or activities of potential interest to the news media? If so, please email info@shakeout.org with details, or complete our event submission form. We may include your event on our list of ShakeOut Media Venues which will be online soon.

Totally Unprepared LogoAre You Totally Unprepared?

Totally Unprepared is a new campaign to show Californians how easy it can be to get prepared, with fun new videos and other resources.

This week's featured story: Will it Shake? Winerack Edition.
In "Will It Shake?" household furniture and other belongings are shaken on an earthquake simulator next to the same items that have been secured in place.  See the results!

Tell Us Your Plans

We're compiling a list of all the types of activities happening on October 20th, and may highlight many of them on the website and in documentation about the ShakeOut. Does the description of your drill plans on your ShakeOut registration need updating?  Did you skip this question but can share your plans now? If so, please log in to update your information.  Thank you!

Get Ready to ShakeOut! 10.20.2011Share the ShakeOut

A great way to help your community, your employer, and others to prepare, survive, and recover is to encourage them to register to participate in the Great California ShakeOut. Let them know you are participating and ask them to join you, perhaps by using email, facebook, twitter, or by placing one of the ShakeOut web banners on your website. You can also display posters, distribute flyers, and use other materials available on the ShakeOut Resources page, including suggested text for newsletters or emails you might send.
