Tickets for Winter Ball will go on sale beginning next Wednesday, January 25th in the Activities Office during lunch for $20.00. You must have your student ID to purchase your ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend VVHS please get a permission slip from the Activities Office or download the form from the Volcano Vista Hawks website. You must have the permission slip with you when you purchase your ticket. The theme for this years dance is Fire & Ice.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple-aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools designed to help you explore the world of work in the civilian and military workplace. It is intended for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and in addition to determining your qualifications for various jobs in any of the Armed forces, it can help guide you regardless of your future plans after high school. The ASVAB test will be offered here in the lecture hall on Wednesday, February 1st from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Sign up the JROTC classroom, B154 no later than Monday, 23 January. See Major Campbell if you have any questions."

Nocturnal Technicians (the technical theatre group here at VVHS) is in need of more crew for the February production of Fiddler on the Roof. If you are interested in helping with the set our makeup for the show, please contact Mr. Gustafson in G-203 ASAP.

Youth and Government will meet in Mr. Brown's room on Friday for students who would like to sign up or need more information.

Seniors are you attending college in the Fall? Are you needing to complete the FAFSA? Invite your parents and easily complete the FAFSA application every college, university, and vocational school uses. ATTENTION ALL YOU POETS OUT THERE! Do you write poetry? Want to perform it? Compete with it? There will be an organizational meeting for ALL students who are interested in participating on this year's Slam Poetry Team - today (Thursday January 19th) at lunch in Ms. Valdez's room A203. Anyone interested is encouraged to come by.

Just a reminder to Junior and Senior class senators meet at Mr. Thiebaut's office at 11:30 am to help keep our campus beautiful.

ATHLETICS:

  • All boys that plan to run track must be in A101 at lunch on Friday, January 20th for a meeting.
  • Girls interested in track and field--Please see Coach Schrader for information regarding preseason workouts and other important information. She is in room A216.
  • All girls interested in playing softball, practice will begin on Monday, Jan. 23rd at 2:45 pm. Meet at the softball field with your glove, cleats, water and your completed physical form.

Friday:

  • Boys Basketball plays at La Cueva at 7 pm.
  • Girls Baskettball plays Manzano here at 7 pm. Everyone wear purple for pancreatic cancer.

Saturday:

  • Varsity wrestling has a tournament beginning at 9 am.
  • Aps Metro Girls Swim Meet is at West Mesa beginning at 11:15 am.
