1999: Strong sustained winds of 61 mph were measured at Borrego Springs, causing roof and tree damage.

Funnel clouds were observed in Homeland as well and in Moreno Valley.
It rained 1.14" in Santa Ana, the greatest daily total on record for May.
7.9" of snow fell in Big Bear Lake, the greatest daily snowfall on record for May.
1995: A small F0 tornado hit the Porterville Airport destroying two single engine aircraft, damaging two roofs and stripping limbs off trees.
Another F0 tornado also touched down in Fresno for one mile causing minor structural damage.
1957: A thunderstorm produced heavy rain, gusty winds and hail ranging from pea to marble size in Fresno County causing damage to crops and turkeys.
At the Fresno Airport, 0.29" of rain fell in a little more than 15 minutes.
1927: It was 101° at Santa Maria, establishing a record high for the month.
1907: Coldest ever in Bakersfield in May, 34°.
