[californiadisasters] South Ops News & Notes Update (6/05/13-5:30PM)

06/05	1730	Powerhouse Fire CA-ANF-002297 North west of Green Valley, Los Angeles Co 32,032 acres, 70% contained. The fire continued to back down towards the indirect lines in the Cottonwood Campground area.  There were several smokes observed with an occasional flare up in the heavier fuels will inside the containment lines.  Ridge Route Road remains closed at Lake Hughes Road. Pine Canyon Road also remains closed from Three Points to Lake Hughes Road.
06/05	0700	Powerhouse Fire CA-ANF-002297 North west of Green Valley, Los Angeles Co. 32,032 acres 65% contained. Fire spread is expected to be minimal over most of the fire area today.  Fire spotting over the Elizabeth Lake Canyon near Cottonwood Campground still remains a threat.  Structure protection remains in place.  Fuels in the Elizabeth Lake Canyon area have not burned since 1928; therefore the fuels are unusually heavy and are holding heat.  Historical low fuel moisture for this time of year is hampering firefighting efforts.
