Interesting turn of events today with this fire.    Yesterday, I was out in the Plum Canyon area of Saugus, looking at homes with my folks.   While in the model house showroom, a fireman was sitting in one of the chairs overhearing the conversation between my parents and the saleslady.    One of my parent's concerns about the neighborhood was the fire danger.   The fireman politely stepped in and added his two cents about the risks of the area.    Got to talking about the Powerhouse fire instead and he said they expected to have it mostly contained that night.    Woke up this morning and it was bigger than ever.    News is now reporting multiple structures on fire, but no chopper is up filming.   I guess it's out of their range, yet they have ground reporters there.    Are media signals different with ground compared to air?    Usually the media is all over these things when structures are burning.    Nightfall has yet to stop them in the past.

The latest size update makes sense given the boundary places that have been mentioned: 15,000-20,000 acres after starting the day in the 3,000's.
The box on this thing keeps getting bigger... evacs now being mentioned for the Castaic Lake area and Lake Elizabeth and Green Valley area after rampaging through Lake Hughes tonight.

According to this link https://www.facebook.com/AVFireNews/posts/493656590703541 Munz Structure Group was formed to protect structures along Lake Hughes Road south of Lake Elizabeth Road and that has been hit hard.
The fire has gotten established north of Lake Elizabeth Road for several hundred acres.
The area around Lake Hughes has been hit hard structure-loss-wise tonight.
Earlier, LACOFD Fire Station #78  was surrounded by fire and asking for air support and the repeater at LACOFD Station #157 was knocked out which wreaked havoc on comms for a time.

Fire was able to come into alignment with slope, winds, low RH and critically dry fuels making extreme head runs on all open divisions with long range spotting and very active backing and flanking fire. Fire spotted and became well developed north of Lake Hughes Road.
