2007: Severe thunderstorms developed over parts of Imperial County and moved rapidly northeast during the evening hours.
By far, the most damage to structures and trees occurred in Palo Verde, in far northeast Imperial County.
1979: The temperature soared to 104° in La Mesa on this day, the hottest day of the year, and the 5th hottest day of the 1970s.
1970: The morning low temperature at Reno, NV was 28°.
1937: The high temperature at Lovelock, NV was 99°.
1928: Since weather records have been kept at Meadows Field in Bakersfield, this is the latest date in the calendar year that no precipitation at all has ever occurred.
