Did you know that The Gay Straight Alliance isn't just for gay people? ANYONE can join. Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) are student clubs that work to improve school climate for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. There will be a Gay Straight Alliance meeting today at lunch in A120 (Ms. Phaneuf's room). New and prospective members along with interested students are always welcome to attend. Today we will be talking about transgender issues and planning for Transgender Awareness Week.
Attention staff and students, during 5th period, administrators will be coming around to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or higher for the 1st and 2nd 6 weeks grading period. Congratulations all the students that achieved this accomplishment, which is over 25% of the Volcano Vista Student body for the 1st and 2nd 6 week grading period. We encourage all students to strive for high academic performance in all of their classes.
COUNSELING:
Texas Tech University will have a representative available during lunch in the lower E-F Hall concourse on Wednesday November 19th if you have any questions about Admissions and financial aid. As well on Thursday November 20th UNM West will have a representative available at lunch to speak with any student interested in enrolling at the UNM West Campus in the Fall.
SENIORS: Are you entering the field of education? If so, please visit the College and Career Center in E 224 for information and an application for the New Mexico Coalition of Educational Leaders. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA to apply.
ATHLETICS:
Attention VVHS girl's tennis players. The pre-season hitting sessions planned to begin this week at Sierra Vista have been postponed because of cold weather. Please contact Coach Kappus for more information.
Nord's lifetime sports students please have warm workout clothes for tomorrow. You will be outside and it is cold.
