Mu Alpha Theta is a National Mathematics Honor Society encompassing more than 65,000 students in more than 1,200 schools. We are dedicated to inspiring interest in mathematics by fellowship, competition and community outreach. The Volcano Vista chapter of the Math National Honors Society is now inviting qualifying students to become new members. See Mr. Guzman in H217 for a new member form by Friday, November 14th.
Attention DECA Students: The standing Friday morning meeting will not take place this week. This week only we will be meeting after school in Mr. Colburn's room on Thursday.
Did you know name calling is the most prevalent type of bullying, followed by teasing, rumor spreading, physical incidents and sexual harassment? It feels great to be kind. Today we challenge you to do random acts of kindness throughout the day; compliment someone, say hi to people you normally wouldn't! Let's see how far kindness can go! We also hope you come out and make a new friend at our movie night as we watch Mean Girls on the field tomorrow evening at 6:00! Tickets are 3.00 each or two for 5.00 and all proceeds will be donated to Rachel's Challenge.
FASHION CLUB: Did you miss out on the headbands fashion club was selling? Or maybe you just want another one? You're in luck. Fashion club will be taking orders for custom headbands at lunch by the library Friday, Monday, and Wednesday. Choose your color and saying. They will start at $5 and each headband will be delivered during fifth period in December just in time for the holidays.
LETTERJACKETS: The weather is cooling down and you have not bought you letter jacket, don't stress!! Gardenswartz Team Sales will be selling letter jackets at a reduced price tonight at the VVHS One Team Athletic Parent Night event. The College and Career Center office, room E224, will be open daily from 11:00am till 1:30pm. Volcano Vista Counselors will be staffing this office daily, outside of these hours any questions you may have can be taken directly to your Academy Counselor.
The deadline to apply for the Daniels Scholarship Program is only one week away! The application will close on November 17, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The scholarship application can be accessed through our website at DanielsFund.org along with additional information about eligibility requirements, selection criteria, application process, and selection timeline. Eastern NM University Senior preview day is this Saturday November 8th. If you are interested in attending this event you will need to register by today, online at enmu.edu/srpreviewday
ATHLETICS
NMAA State Soccer is this week. Girls play today at the soccer complex at 1:30 against Eldorado. Boys play tonight at 7:45pm on field 1 at the Soccer Complex against Atrisco Heritage.
NMAA State XC is Saturday at 10am at Rio Rancho High School.
