U.S. television station ABC submitted today all the data necessary for journalists to visit the Holuhraun eruption site in the northeastern Icelandic highlands and a live broadcast of news program Good Morning America from the site early next week has been authorized by the Icelandic Civil Protection department.
Photo technician Einar Erlendsson, who is ABC's contact person in Iceland, told ruv.is this afternoon that it had always been important to the television station's representatives to cooperate with Icelandic emergency services and to guarantee the safety of everyone involved in the project.
According to RÚV's sources, Ginger Zee will anchor the show and interview an Icelandic scientist about the eruption at the site. Good Morning America reaches five million viewers on average.
