LIT MAG: Do you want to be a part of a State Championship program?  No, not the Girl's Basketball Team - Our very own Hawkword Moment's Literary Magazine! We are accepting submissions for:  poetry, short stories, photography, artwork, and mixed media pieces through February 13.  Submission details are available on Mrs. Rizzardi's APS website or outside H219.

Computer Graphics Club please meet in E115 at 11:10 for yearbook pictures. We walk down to the gym together.

 

There will be a Gay Straight Alliance meeting today at lunch in conference room A109.   New and prospective members along with interested students are always welcome to attend. Today we will be brainstorming ideas for a Greater Albuquerque GSA event and Day of Silence.

 

We will be on a long advisory schedule tomorrow. Seniors please plan to attend. We will be taking the senior class picture, voting for senior superlatives and getting information about graduation. Report to your advisory teacher first and then come down to the gym. Leave your backpacks and purses in the classroom

 

COUNSELING:

  • Parents of Seniors at Volcano Vista High School, the FAFSA Kickoff event is Scheduled for Wednesday February 4th, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the VVHS Performing Arts Center.  Please plan on coming by to get valuable information on completing the FAFSA as part of your students financial aid and College search process.  Attending this event puts your students name in a drawing for a $500 Scholarship.

  • The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career. The test will be given in the Volcano Vista High School lecture hall on Monday, February 2nd from 7:30 am to approximately 12pm. To schedule yourself for the test, please sign up in the JROTC classroom.  If you have any questions please contact Major Campbell.

  • The Navy, Army, Marines and National Guard will have a representatives available during lunch on Wednesday January 28th for anyone interested.  The reps will be in the lower E-F Concourse area during lunch.

  • The Tony & Guy Hairdressing Academy will have a representative available during lunch on Thursday January 29th for anyone interested.  The rep will be in the lower E-F Concourse area during lunch.

  • CNM Onsite visit is scheduled for Monday February 9th during lunch in computer Lab E202.  This Onsite Admissions visit is if you are wanting to enroll for Fall 2015 please plan on attending to complete your online application and have questions answered by the CNM reps.

 

ATHLETICS 

  • BOYS SOCCER: Attention any boys interested in playing soccer next season at Volcano Vista High School.  There will be a brief informational meeting this Thursday at lunch in A104.  We will see everyone this Thursday, January 29 at lunch in A104.  If you cannot make it, come see Coach Thiebaut in room A121.

  • BOYS TENNIS: Anyone interested in participating in Boys Varsity Tennis there will be a meeting this Wednesday January 28th in room H125

 

  • Congrats to the Boys and Girl Basketball teams for their wins Friday against Rio Rancho. Both Teams are 1-1 in District.  For the Boys David Cormier had 29 points and 13 rebounds and Lorenzo Vigil had 4 assists and Jose Vigil had 4 steals to lead the Hawks to a great come from behind 4 point win. For the Girls Dasha Battle and Raven Herrera Led the girls to an important win. Congrats also to the Boys and Girls C and JV teams on their wins.  Kyle Vargas, Jorrell Phillips, and Josh Escobedo had great games for Hawks.

  • Next Game for Boys Basketball is tomorrow night at Cleveland at 7pm. Cleveland is the #1 ranked team in the state.

  • Girls Basketball plays here tomorrow at 7pm vs. Cleveland.

  • Wrestling has a match against Santa Fe on Wednesday in the Ring of Fire.

  • Swimming will be in the APS Mini Invitational on Friday at West Mesa Pool.
