Since fire season hasn't officially closed in SoCal for a few years, there was always something to burn.  Some days are tougher than others of course. 

The Santa Ana winds only increase the risks. 

However, this year and until we get a traditional winter, will be increasingly more challenging. 

The time for 4291 clearing is NOW and check your insurance too.

I posted it for the two brush fires that went with the structure fire. This time of year arsonists historically have had nothing veg fire-wise to burn at this latitude and longitude with fuel moisture levels more typical for late winter. However, a new normal may be establishing itself it would seem as we are seeing an early-onset fire season down here once again. The previous two years have given us mid-spring Santa Ana Winds and brushfires of note in Socal so it will be interesting to see if that repeats in a third year.
Note: Cal Coast News is a muck-raking operation but since their article was the one I found I went with it because the brush fire part was accurate and widely reported around here.

A structure fire has no relationship to fire season, which never closed in SoCal (where Ventura really is).

Arson also has little to do with fire season, other than it provides more options for the arsonist.

Three fires broke out on the Central Coast Thursday amid a stretch of unseasonably warm temperatures. [KEYT]

An apartment fire in Santa Maria displaced 40 residents and injured three people, while a riverbed blaze in Ventura County burned more than 15 acres. In Santa margarita, a brush fire burned six acres.

The Santa Maria fire began just before 4:30 p.m. at a second floor balcony in the Vizcaya apartment complex. During the blaze a female resident suffered a minor burn on her arm, a firefighter received treatment for smoke inhalation and a police officer reported that some debris landed in his eye.

After the fire, inspectors deemed nine units uninhabitable. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

At approximately 3:54 p.m., brush caught fire in the bed of the Ventura River, outside the city of Ventura. Authorities evacuated 150 people from the nearby campus of the Brooks Institute, and firefighters battled the blaze overnight.

Investigators suspect that an arsonist started the fire. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

The Santa Margarita fire broke out by Park Hill Road near Oak Canyon. Firefighters contained it by Thursday evening after it burned at least six acres.
