[californiadisasters] Report from a colleague in Arcadia

He’s away from the flurry, but commenting on what he saw on local news.  I’ve personally witnessed the complete loss of structures within minutes, and know of a number in past fires that were more than three miles from the fire line and well into the urban neighborhoods. The item in the last line had to be from an ember getting into the foundation vent.

News crew-“If you are west of the 210 freeway in Pacomia and Sylmar area, get out now. Don’t wait for the sheriff to come by.”

Notification system via phone not working because the power is out.

You should be able to get the news on KABC on the net.

Santa Paula north of Foothill.

Ventura under evac. Ventura short of water.  Crews go down the street to tank up and then come back.  Too late.

When fire spots into a tract area away from the fire, problem for the guy sleeping because he works night shift. Available crews are in another area trying to stop it there.  Not available to go a mile away to go after the spotting fire. House catches, gone in minutes while we watch on TV from the helicopter.

TV showed a crew cutting open a garage door to get water in.  Door comes down and there is a car inside.  All gone.

One crew was putting water under the house because it caught under the floor from the other side.”
