Today's wind and weather in L.A. felt more like the typical Winter
"after-storm" conditions. Fierce, cooler winds with the puffy clouds off
in the
east. Doesn't feel like much of a typical Santa Ana, but more like a
mild February storm event.

True, except that the rains *have* made it so that this was not an
explosive
condition that went to hundreds of acres as we've seen in the past on this
date.
As for the Santa Ana winds: I'm going to go out on a limb here and disagree
with the NWS pros. CA is currently under a moderately strong Jetstream,
which seems to me will block any offshore flow. And a storm system/trough
is
building, with the center of the Low having pushed south from the Gulf of
Alaska this afternoon to now west of Oregon.
This system appears to me to be headed straight at CA. However, I *can* see
that if it moves way south and the High we're supposedly under (although
it's disappeared from the maps) moves to the north, that would set us up
for
a Santa Ana.
We'll see in the next day or few what will really happen.
